The Singer

Hebe is a mezzo-soprano specializing in ensemble vocal repertoire.  She currently sings in the Amsterdam Baroque Choir, the Netherlands Chamber Choir, Studium Chorale, and vocal quartet Hollands Collectief.
Having a distinctive clear coppery sound that mixes well in lower registers, she also writes and performs her own vocal music.  She studied voice with James McCray, Ira Siff, Chapucine Chiaudani, Hein Meens, and Pierre Mak.

The Violinist

Hebe began playing the violin at the age of 4, and continued to study violin performance, receiving a Bachelors of Music in violin performance (Cum Laude) from San Francisco State University.  Hebe's most influential violin teacher was the late Jenny Rudin, who passed away in 2015.  She studied violin at SFSU with the Alexander String Quartet, Federico Agostini and with Kurt Sassmannshaus at the Aspen Music Festival.

Hebe enjoyed a career as a freelance orchestral violinist during her tenure in the United States.  However, since settling permanently in the Netherlands, she has focussed on chamber music and teaching young talent.  Hebe is a multi-instrumentalist, and plays the viola, cello, and flute in her own compositions and productions.  She greatly enjoys teaching and playing chamber music with her two children as Duo a Day and the Champs. Hebe is an expert when it comes to orchestral string technique, thanks to her extensive knowledge of performance practice and years of intensive training as a violinist.  Much of her conducting sound derives from her in-depth knowledge of string instruments.

She plays on a beautiful violin made by Amsterdam-based luthier Matthieu Besseling in 2007, and a richly toned viola built in 1989 by the same maker.
